Top Coat Dull = matt-original (OEM-Look), Glossy = mittlerer Glanz, High Gloss = hoher Glanz.

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Mercedes-Benz: the original standard colour for factory-true leather repairs

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Mercedes-Benz? — This precisely matched leather standard colour lets you refresh and repair Mercedes-Benz leather true to the original, for a lasting, even finish that looks like it left the factory that way.

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is a precisely matched leather standard colour for the professional repair, refresh and re-colouring of Mercedes-Benz leather interiors. The colours are built on original Mercedes-Benz colour samples and are formulated to blend cleanly into the surface that's already there. Ideal for seat bolsters, steering wheels, armrests, door panels and any pigmented smooth leather inside the car, where colour accuracy and an OEM look make or break the result.

Original Mercedes-Benz colour tones – Built to near-factory colour samples.
For repair & refresh – Ideal for wear, fading and colour loss.
Professional finish – Strong adhesion and an even colour.

💡 Day-to-day from Detailing1: On Mercedes-Benz jobs we keep running into the same thing — colour loss on the seat bolsters and steering wheel gets masked with a cheap care spray that doesn't last four weeks. Dab Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) on with a microfibre pad in 2–3 thin coats, let it dry 30 min between coats, then seal it with Top Coat Dull at the end — and it holds 2–3 years, like it came that way from the factory.

Prep it, dab on thin coats, seal with Top Coat

You lay Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) down in 2–3 thin coats, dry 30 min between them, then seal with Top Coat at the end. Thin coats hold for years; thick coats crack.

Before the colour goes on, wash the leather with a leather cleaner and degrease it with Plastic Cleaner or cleaning alcohol. Fill deep cracks and abrasion marks with Filler or Super Filler and sand them smooth with a 1000-grit sanding fleece. Then dab the Mercedes-Benz colour tones on with a microfibre pad, brush them out with a soft brush, or spray them on with a spray bottle for larger repairs.

After at least 4 hours of full drying, seal with Top Coat — Dull for the matte, original OEM look, Glossy for a mid sheen, High Gloss for maximum brilliance. One litre of Leather Colour covers about 8–10 m² of leather, and a 250 ml bottle is enough for a full pair of seats plus the steering wheel. The same workflow runs across every part, from the seat cushion through the door panel to the centre armrest.

Pigmented leather yes, natural and suede leather no

Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is strictly for pigmented smooth leather — the standard in modern automotive interiors. Natural leather, aniline leather and suede behave differently and need other COLOURLOCK product lines.

The water-based formula bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leather, stays flexible and moves with the leather without cracking. On natural leather or open-pore aniline leather, the colour soaks into the fibre unevenly and blotches the leather — that's where Leather Fresh (Mercedes-Benz) as a care option or dedicated aniline lines come in. For suede, velour and Alcantara you reach for Nubuk Fresh (Mercedes-Benz), which keeps the rough fibre nap open instead of gluing it shut.

When colour accuracy to the original factory tone matters and you're restoring a part over a large area, Leather Colour is the right call. When you only need to fix one small spot (steering-wheel wear, a single crack), Fluid Leather (Mercedes-Benz) in the 20 ml tube goes further and is more precise. And when the leather just looks slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care option usually does the trick.

For detailers, refinishers and classic-car owners

Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is the professional pick for detailers, independent refinishers and keen owners who put value retention and original Mercedes-Benz colour accuracy above quick care fixes.

On lease returns, used-car refurbs and classic and youngtimer restorations, OEM colour accuracy is what drives value retention and resale price. The professional 4-step workflow (clean, sand, colour, seal) takes 4 hours including drying per part and delivers a result that holds 2–3 years, like it came from the factory. One litre of Leather Colour works out at about 30 cents per 100 ml of finished area — figured fully, with Top Coat, that's roughly 12 euros per part.

For pure care routines without proper kit, Leather Colour is overkill — Leather Fresh (Mercedes-Benz) covers that. For spot repairs on the steering wheel or single cracks, Fluid Leather or the Leather Care Sets (Mercedes-Benz) make more sense. But if you want to restore whole seat bolsters, steering wheels or door panels and you care about original Mercedes-Benz colour accuracy, there's no way around the 1-litre bottle or the 250 ml size.

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Mercedes-Benz?

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is a water-based, elastic leather standard dye in original Mercedes-Benz shades. It is used for repairing, refreshing, or recoloring pigmented smooth leather in vehicle interiors — seats, steering wheels, armrests, door panels.

How do I apply Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) correctly?

First, thoroughly clean and degrease the leather. Fill and sand any damage with filler. Then, dab, wipe, or spray the Leather Colour thinly — 2–3 thin layers are better than one thick one. After complete drying, seal with Top Coat (Dull/Glossy/High Gloss).

What is the difference to Leather Fresh?

Leather Colour is the professional repair dye (1L/250ml, sealable with Top Coat). Leather Fresh is the conditioning color cream (1L/100ml) for lighter touch-ups without extensive preparation. For deep abrasion → Leather Colour; for dull surfaces → Leather Fresh.

Do the colors really match Mercedes-Benz exactly?

The color shades are based on original Mercedes-Benz factory color samples. For heavily faded leather, we still recommend a color test in an inconspicuous area, as the original leather darkens or fades over the years.

What are the most common mistakes we see in the workshop?

Three classics: (1) Leather not degreased beforehand — paint won't adhere. (2) Too thick a layer applied — cracks when drying. (3) Top coat sealing omitted — abrasion resistance under 6 months. With proper preparation, the result lasts 2–3 years.

Do I absolutely need a Top Coat?

Yes, for lasting abrasion resistance. Without a Top Coat, the color on seat bolsters and steering wheels will wear off again within a few weeks. Top Coat Dull = matte-original (OEM look), Glossy = medium shine, High Gloss = high shine.

Care instructions for Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz):

Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is exclusively suitable for pigmented smooth leather – the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather, and suede react differently and require other COLOURLOCK product lines.

The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leather, remains elastic, and follows leather movements without cracking. With natural leather or open-pored aniline leather, the colour absorbs unevenly into the fibres and discolours the leather blotchily – here, Leather Fresh (Mercedes-Benz) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour, and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Mercedes-Benz), which preserves the rough fibre structure instead of gluing it.

If colour accuracy to the original factory colour is crucial and the component is to be extensively restored, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small area (steering wheel abrasion, single crack) needs to be repaired, Fluid Leather (Mercedes-Benz) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
