  • PPF Care and Ceramic Coating for Protective Films with GYEON Q²

What is a GYEON PPF sealant? A GYEON Q² PPF coating is a ceramic sealant specially developed for Paint Protection Film (PPF) that maximizes the hydrophobicity of the protective film, slows down yellowing, and significantly facilitates cleaning of the film.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) or protective film protects car paint from stone chips, scratches, and fine surface defects. But PPF also needs care: unsealed films can yellow, get dirty, and lose gloss and hydrophobicity over time. GYEON Q² PPF Coat is specifically designed to seal PPF surfaces with a ceramic protective film. The result: better hydrophobicity than unsealed film, slowed yellowing due to UV protection, and a finish that emphasizes the clear coat character of the film rather than detracting from it.

    • Maximum hydrophobicity on PPF. Unsealed protective film attracts dirt more strongly than smooth car paint. With GYEON Q² PPF Coat, water beads off strongly even on the film, which significantly facilitates self-cleaning and care.
    • UV protection against yellowing. High-quality PPF yellows slowly – cheaper or older PPF yellows faster. The Q² coating contributes to slowing down this process through UV absorption.
    • Compatible with self-healing films. GYEON Q² PPF Coat is formulated to be compatible with self-healing PPF systems and does not impair their healing properties.

Practical tip from Detailing1: New PPF should cure for at least 7 days after application before a sealant is applied. Coating too early risks adhesion problems and color changes. Thoroughly pre-treat and degrease existing PPF with a PPF-compatible cleaner before sealing.

GYEON Q² PPF Coat: Application and Efficacy on Protective Films

The application of GYEON Q² PPF Coat follows the same basic rules as other ceramic coatings: clean, degreased film, thin application, defined flash-off window, careful wiping. A special feature with PPF: the film is more susceptible to coating residues in the area of edges and folds. Here, particularly careful application without over-dosing is recommended, especially at edges. After coating, the vehicle should not get wet for 24 hours. For long-term care, we recommend pH-neutral shampoos from the Q²M Maintenance line.
