RTU Wet Sealant with Aminosilane for Gloss and Beading in Minutes

Koch-Chemie WetGloss "Wg" is a ready-to-use wet sealant based on aminofunctional polysiloxanes. After each wash, the product adds a hydrophobic layer with a contact angle of over 100 degrees and a durability of three to six weeks. It can be used as a standalone sealant or as a topping over ceramic coatings; it is not an SiO2 system.

Pre-wash the car and rinse off the foam thoroughly, leaving the body dripping wet. Spray WetGloss undiluted onto one body panel at a time, six to eight pumps per section. Immediately rinse off with high pressure from a distance of 30 centimeters, then move to the next section. Wipe dry with a microfiber towel. Work in the shade, keeping the panel temperature below 25 degrees. Do not let it dry on the surface. Store frost-free between 5 and 30 degrees, shelf life 24 months after opening.

Paint Sealant in Minutes Instead of Hours of Polishing with Koch-Chemie WetGloss

What is Koch-Chemie WetGloss? A ready-to-use wet sealant based on polysiloxane, which you spray directly onto the wet paint after washing and rinse off with a high-pressure cleaner. Three to six weeks of measurable beading per application, no polishing required. Not suitable for matte finishes, matte films, convertible fabric tops, or freshly painted surfaces less than 30 days old.

Koch-Chemie WetGloss is a ready-to-use wet sealant from Koch-Chemie in Unna, applied directly after washing without any polishing or wiping steps. The main active ingredient is an aminofunctional polysiloxane – translated: a flexible silicone polymer with two different ends. One end carries nitrogen anchors (amino groups), the other water-repellent methyl groups. On wet paint, the polymer aligns itself: anchors into the clear coat, methyl ends outward. What this means for you: water immediately beads off in dense spheres instead of clinging to the paint – no carnauba wax, no silicon dioxide like with ceramic coatings, just a self-aligning agent that lasts three to six weeks.

The workflow is called "Spray-on, Rinse-off" in detailing jargon: spray on, rinse off, done. You spray WetGloss panel by panel onto the wet car immediately after shampooing, the high-pressure cleaner distributes the polymer evenly over the section in seconds, and the excess material drains away with the rinse water. Drying with a microfiber cloth is the only moment you still touch the paint. Practical: a standalone sealing step between full treatments – and at the same time a topping over existing ceramic or wax coatings that audibly refreshes hydrophobicity and measurably densifies water beading.

  • Beading Refresh in Minutes. Immediately after rinsing, water beads off the paint in dense, compact drops instead of forming a flat film – the typical "new car fresh" effect. In everyday use, you'll see this from the first rain drive, and for the next drying, you'll need half the microfiber volume. This saves you the wipe-and-turn game of a dry spray sealant and the tedious polishing of a carnauba wax.
  • Three to Six Weeks of Protection per Application. With a typical commuting routine involving a wash every two to four weeks, the polymer layer lasts until the next refresh. The 500 ml spray bottle is sufficient for three to five mid-range cars when applied section by section – approximately 2.30 to 5.10 Euros per sealing. The 5-liter canister pays off from the second car in the household or for commercial use.
  • Ready-to-use, no dilution, no foam lance. Unlike Hydro Foam Sealant S0.03, which is diluted 1:50 to 1:150 with a foam lance, or Spray Sealant S0.02, which requires 20 minutes of polishing effort after drying, with WetGloss you only need a spray bottle, high-pressure cleaner, and microfiber cloth. This means for you: the entire sealing step fits into a single self-service wash bay slot.

Practical Tip from Detailing1: The most expensive mistake with WetGloss is letting it dry on paint that is too warm. At a panel temperature of about 30 to 40 degrees Celsius – which can be reached within minutes on dark paint in May sunlight – the alcohol carrier solvent (technically 2-propanol) evaporates so quickly that the polymer cross-links unevenly. Translated: the aminofunctional polysiloxane only adheres partially to the paint, leaving white streaks or water spots in the uncovered areas. In severe cases, you have to remove the residues with an alkaline cleaner or even a light machine polish – half an hour of extra work that the application should actually save. Therefore, always work in the shade, with a cool body under 25 degrees Celsius and section by section: spray the hood, rinse immediately, then move to the next section. A high-pressure cleaner is mandatory. Its strong water jet reduces consumption from the 250 milliliters defensively stated by the manufacturer to a realistic 100 to 150 milliliters per mid-range car.

Applying WetGloss correctly: wet paint, section, high pressure

You spray Koch-Chemie WetGloss panel by panel onto the wet car directly after washing, rinse immediately with high pressure, and dry with a microfiber cloth. Three steps, no polishing required.

Sequence in practice: car pre-washed, foam rinsed off, body still dripping wet. You take the spray bottle, shake it briefly, and work in sections – half a roof, a fender, a door area. Six to eight sprays per section are sufficient, no flooding. Immediately afterwards, rinse with a high-pressure cleaner from about 30 centimeters away, from top to bottom, until the water rolls off in dense drops and no more foam traces remain. Only then move to the next section.

The rinsing pressure determines the result. A simple garden hose is not enough: the polymer will not be distributed evenly, and you will use twice as much for half the result. Over 100 bar, as provided by any self-service car wash, is optimal. With hard tap water quality, dry immediately after the last rinse – standing water would otherwise leave limescale spots on the freshly sealed surface.

For drying, a soft microfiber drying cloth is sufficient, wiping in sections. In Detailing1 practice, the Koch-Chemie program works best in the sequence of washing, rim cleaning, WetGloss, drying – the entire exterior workflow for a mid-range car is thus under 25 minutes.

Aminosilane does not fix paint defects and temporarily masks your coating

WetGloss is not a substitute for paint polishing and not a multi-year protective layer – it complements your program between complete treatments with immediately measurable beading. Anyone wanting to remove scratches or polish out holograms is in the wrong place.

The clear taboo substrates. Matte finishes and matte films are visually smoothed by the polymer and create an unwanted greasy look – the manufacturer explicitly excludes this application, and you can only get rid of the effect with an alkaline cleaner. Convertible fabric tops absorb the emulsion unevenly and harden the fibers; special textile sealants are available for this. Freshly painted surfaces under 30 days need time to outgas – a sealant over them can delay curing and, in the worst case, lead to hazing. Uncoated polished aluminum can streak depending on the alloy because the bare metal binds the nitrogen anchors of the polymer differently than closed clear coat.

The second, less known behavior is the masking effect: If you apply WetGloss to an existing ceramic coating with pronounced sheeting behavior – i.e., flat water runoff instead of droplet formation – the polymer takes over the water properties of the sealant for three to six weeks. The flat sheeting of your SiO₂ coating becomes beading. Practically: the coating is not damaged; once the sacrificial layer is washed off, the original behavior reappears. But anyone who has just had a premium coating applied should be aware of the temporary change in character and rather use it as a refresh over the winter.

The choice logic in the Koch-Chemie program. If touchless refresh in minutes between washes → WetGloss. If maximum durability on dry paint with manual polishing accepted → Spray Sealant S0.02. If professional wax sealant via foam lance with carnauba character → Protector Wax Pw. If snow foam concentrate with foam lance dilution 1:50 to 1:150 for the workshop → Hydro Foam Sealant S0.03 is the more suitable tool.

For maintenance detailers, not for full restoration

WetGloss is the right choice for anyone who washes their paint every two to four weeks and wants to build visible protection between sessions. After a regular hand wash, grab the spray bottle, six pumps per section, rinse, dry – five minutes of extra work for four to six weeks of measurable hydrophobicity.

This is particularly economical in multi-vehicle households and for small commercial use. With a realistic consumption of 100 to 150 milliliters, the 5-liter container is sufficient for more than 33 sealings. Those who use WetGloss in combination with regular foam pre-washing will additionally extend the effective durability because the polymer does not have to break down stubborn crusts and can build cleanly on the well-maintained substrate.

WetGloss is less suitable for detailers with a snow foam lance who need to clean larger fleets without contact – there, the concentrated Hydro Foam Sealant S0.03 wins on cost-per-application. Also, for paint shop handovers with fresh touch-up paint, the 30-day waiting window applies without exception.

The one trick the manufacturer doesn't loudly announce: Don't spray the entire car at once. Apply to one section, immediately cover with a high-pressure water film, then move to the next. Translated: the polymer only needs the seconds during which the strong jet pushes the material over the wet component – that's precisely where cross-linking takes place, before the alcohol carrier solvent evaporates and can leave streaks. This means for you: two applications from a 500 ml bottle become four to five, the real liter price is halved, and you still have measurably denser beading than with complete spraying.

Store frost-free between 5 and 30 degrees Celsius, shake before use. Regarding compliance: Due to the classification "harmful to aquatic life" (H412 according to GHS), use exclusively at a car wash with an oil separator. A private driveway with a direct connection to the storm sewer is legally prohibited in DACH – so the step to a self-service car wash or commercial detailing park is not only convenience, but a duty.

Frequently Asked Questions about Koch-Chemie WetGloss

What is a wet sealant like Koch-Chemie WetGloss?

A wet sealant is sprayed onto the wet paint directly after washing and rinsed off again with a jet of water. The WetGloss leaves behind a polysiloxane film with measurable hydrophobicity. Unlike spray sealants such as Spray Sealant S0.02, there is no need to polish it off with a microfibre cloth.

How do I apply WetGloss correctly?

Pre-wash the car, rinse off foam, leave the bodywork dripping wet. Spray WetGloss section by section, six to eight pumps per section, then immediately rinse off with a high-pressure cleaner from a distance of 30 centimetres. Dry with a microfibre drying towel, otherwise you risk limescale stains if you have hard tap water.

What is the difference between WetGloss and Spray Sealant S0.02?

WetGloss works on wet paint without microfibre contact, with a durability of three to six weeks. Spray Sealant S0.02 is applied to dry paint, allowed to flash off briefly and polished with a microfibre cloth, but it lasts significantly longer. WetGloss is for a quick refresh, S0.02 for maximum durability per application.

Is WetGloss compatible with my ceramic coating?

Yes, WetGloss is suitable as a topping over existing SiO2 ceramic coatings, waxes, or PTFE. The carrier solvent 2-propanol, at 1-10 percent, is too mild to dissolve cross-linked coatings. Be aware: The polysiloxane will overwrite the water properties of your coating for 3 to 6 weeks — sheeting will become beading, and the base coating will be unchanged afterwards.

What happens if WetGloss dries on hot paint?

At panel temperatures above 30 to 40 degrees, the 2-propanol evaporates so quickly that the aminofunctional polysiloxane cross-links unevenly, leaving white streaks or water spots. In severe cases, residues must be removed with an alkaline cleaner or light machine polish. Therefore, always work in the shade and in sections.

How economical is Koch-Chemie WetGloss?

When applied section by section with a high-pressure cleaner, 100 to 150 millilitres are sufficient for a medium-sized car. The 500 ml spray bottle is therefore enough for 3 to 5 sealings, costing about 2.30 to 5.10 euros per application. The 5-litre canister pays for itself from the second vehicle or in commercial use with over 33 applications per container.

Application of Koch-Chemie WetGloss

Apply in sections, high pressure disperses

WetGloss works as a spray-on, rinse-off sealant immediately after washing. Step one: Wash the car regularly with pH-neutral shampoo, then rinse off the foam completely. The body remains dripping wet. Shake the spray bottle briefly, open the spray nozzle.

Step two: Work section by section, do not spray the entire car at once. One section (half a roof, one fender, one door area) receives six to eight evenly distributed sprays from a distance of approximately 25 centimeters. Immediately afterwards, rinse with a high-pressure cleaner from a distance of 30 centimeters from top to bottom until the water runs off in dense drops. Over 100 bar, as available at any self-service car wash, is ideal.

Step three: Dry with a microfiber drying towel in sections, do not rub. If the tap water quality is hard, wipe off immediately after the last rinse, otherwise you risk limescale stains on the freshly sealed layer.

Notes: WetGloss is not suitable for matte paints, matte films, convertible fabric tops, freshly painted surfaces under 30 days old, or uncoated polished aluminum. Avoid application in direct sunlight and on hot paint; at component temperatures of approximately 30 to 40 degrees Celsius, the product dries too quickly and leaves white streaks. Due to the classification H412, use only at car wash facilities with oil separators — a private driveway with a direct connection to the storm sewer is legally prohibited in DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Store frost-free between 5 and 30 degrees Celsius; lasts 24 months after opening.
