The colours are based on original BMW colour samples and are formulated to blend seamlessly into existing surfaces. Ideal for seat bolsters, steering wheels, armrests, door cards and all pigmented smooth leather in the cabin, wherever colour accuracy and an OEM look are what matter.

💡 Day-to-day from Detailing1: On BMW jobs we see the same thing again and again — colour loss on seat bolsters and steering wheels gets masked with cheap care spray that doesn't last four weeks. With Leather Colour (BMW) dabbed on with a microfibre pad in 2–3 thin coats, 30 min to dry between coats, then sealed with Top Coat Dull at the end — the result holds 2–3 years, just like factory.

Leather Colour (BMW) goes on in 2–3 thin coats, 30 min to dry between coats, sealed with Top Coat at the end. Thin coats hold for years, thick coats crack.

Before you lay down colour, wash the leather with leather cleaner and degrease it with Plastic Cleaner or cleaning alcohol. Deep cracks and abrasion marks get filled with Filler or Super Filler and sanded smooth with 1000-grit pad. You then dab the BMW shades on with a microfibre pad, work them out with a soft brush, or spray them on for large-area repairs.

After a full cure of at least 4 hours, seal with Top Coat — Dull for a matte, original OEM look, Glossy for a medium sheen, High Gloss for maximum brilliance. One litre of Leather Colour covers about 8–10 m² of leather, a 250-ml bottle is enough for a complete pair of seats plus the steering wheel. The same workflow runs on every part, from the seat cushion through the door card to the centre armrest.

Pigmented leather yes, natural and suede leather no

Leather Colour (BMW) is only for pigmented smooth leather — the standard in modern automotive. Natural leather, aniline leather and suede behave differently and need other COLOURLOCK product lines.

The water-based formula bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leather, stays elastic and moves with the leather without cracking. On natural or open-pored aniline leather the colour soaks into the fibre unevenly and stains the leather blotchy — that's where Leather Fresh (BMW) as a care variant or dedicated aniline lines come in. Suede, velour and Alcantara get treated with Nubuk Fresh (BMW), which keeps the rough fibre structure intact instead of gluing it down.

When colour accuracy to the original factory shade matters and you're restoring the part over a large area, Leather Colour is the right call. When you only need to fix a small spot (steering-wheel wear, a single crack), Fluid Leather (BMW) in the 20-ml tube goes further and works more precisely. When the leather just looks slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually enough.

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (BMW) is a water-based, elastic leather standard dye in original BMW shades. It is used for repairing, refreshing, or recolouring pigmented smooth leather in the vehicle interior — seats, steering wheels, armrests, door panels.

How do I properly apply Leather Colour (BMW)?
